The domain arobuddhism.org is owned and managed by Sang-ngak-chö-dzong in the United Kingdom and Aro Gar, Inc. in the United States.
Your personal data* will be collected, stored and processed by Sang-ngak-chö-dzong and Aro Gar, Inc. purely for the purposes necessary to run the company. The company has a legal obligation to hold a list of its members and may need to contact them at certain times in line with its constitution or company law. Your personal details will be visible only to other members and administrators of the company having a justifiable need.
Personal data will not be shared with any outside organisations except when legally required to do so by external regulatory bodies or enforcement agencies. The exception to this is that data will be shared between Sang-ngak-chö-dzong and its sister charity in the USA, Aro Gar inc. because both organisations collaborate across national boundaries to provide the worldwide Aro web environment, the international sangha contact lists, and other shared international activity.
Any further need to share your personal data will only occur if we seek and obtain your prior permission.
We will undertake all reasonable precautions to keep your personal data safe, and will notify you as soon as possible if we become aware of any breach of data security measures.
Should you cease to be a member of Sang-ngak-chö-dzong your personal record will be retained for the period required by company law, after which time it will be permanently deleted.
You may at any time contact us to request that your personal data is deleted, but you should be aware that it will be impossible for us to continue to offer you the rights of membership under these circumstances, and therefore you will be automatically relinquishing your membership.
Citizens of the EU and UK will retain all the rights they hold under GDPR or whatever other data protection legislation is relevant at the time, irrespective of what might be stated here.
Please contact Loren Lewis Cole with any enquiry or concerns about your personal data: email@example.com
*Personal data refers to any records which include items by which your personal identity could be recognised. It does not include information such as statistical data where previously identifiable personal data has been rendered anonymous prior to processing.
By paying the subscription you are agreeing to become a member of the charitable company Sang-ngak-chö-dzong.
(UK Registered company number 11634542, UK Registered charity number 1181153)
All apprentices are expected to contribute in this way to the costs of administering Sangha activity.
As a member you have the right to attend general meetings of the company and vote on resolutions at such meetings or either in person or by proxy, and also the right to access those areas of the website reserved for apprentices and members.
You also guarantee to pay any creditors of the charity a sum not exceeding £1, in the case that the company is liquidated.
(This is the equivalent of, but an alternative to, being a shareholder of a company. Under charity law the company cannot have shareholders, but in return its members have only the very limited financial liability outlined above; and instead of purchasing a shareholding you pay an annual fee.)
Your subscription as a member pays for basic administration costs that enable the charity to exist and provide the framework for lineage activity in the sphere of realised manifestation. These costs include registration and accountancy fees, book-keeping costs and website maintenance. All other charitable activity depends on additional voluntary donations and other fundraising effort.
From a legal perspective, membership of Sang-ngak-chö-dzong is entirely voluntary, but from a practice perspective it is expected by your teachers that you will contribute in this way as part of your commitment to apprenticeship. Most teachers have asked to be notified if their apprentices default on membership. Should you find membership a financial burden, then you should discuss this matter with them. Special arrangements may be made, but only in the most exceptional circumstances and subject to your teachers’ agreement. (This paragraph does not apply to any members who are not also apprentices or disciples of the lineage.)
