The Tibetan Yogas of Dream and Sleep

By Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche

Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche states in his introduction that he wished to provide a ‘clear and simple’ description of this body of practices – and his book is an excellent introduction. It is both thorough and concise. The book functions as a practice manual as well as a description of the rationale of practice. Remarkably the author achieves this in a book that assumes only the most basic familiarity with Buddhism in its reader.

The thoroughness with which he treats his subject is manifested in his covering, in brief, the entire context of these practices, including the six realms of cyclic existence, the basics of the energy body with its channels and flows, silent sitting meditation as a foundation for all other practice, kinds of dreams, kinds of sleep, the essentials of karma as a shaper of our experience. All this material is developed in the most lucid and methodical fashion.
